Yeah, I got to run today! Yesterday was just too crazy with grocery shopping, errands, and school to get any running in. Today I set off with the babies in the stroller and my 8-year-old daughter on her bike. I was planning on running 3 miles, but Mason started crying. We cut it short and only ran 2.34 miles in 29:15. Not too shabby since I was pushing the babies.
These babies are heavy going up the hills! Man, they've definitely grown since I last pushed them. With the hubby being home a lot during the holidays, I haven't had to push the stroller in a month. I was figuring that the stroller weighs probably 30lbs and the babies combined weigh is 54.6lbs. That's a lot of weight to be pushing around but a good workout. That should count as extra right???
It was really nice that my 8-year-old went with me. I've ran with the hubby a few times but he usually takes off since he's so much faster. Today was the first time I've had someone with me during the whole run. I've read a bunch of times that you should be running at conversational pace. I never really knew what that was until today. With the kiddo beside me, I was able to keep talking to her. I guess 12:30 is my conversational pace. Even though the hills kicked my ass and I couldn't keep up the conversation then. Guess that's ok though.
My plan for the rest of the week is:
Thurs: 3-4 mile run
Fri: rest
Sat: 4 mile run
Sun: 4 mile run
Well, see how the babies cooperate tomorrow since I have to take them with me.

I can only imagine what it's like pushing the kids, I was in the Army at one time and had to carry the flag quite often, it's a whole new dynamic to running when you can't pump both arms at the same time.
Great job.

Congradulations on your run. That's some workout pushing the babies. Hope you are having a wonderful day :)

Besides running, you actually had strength/weight training by pushing the stroller of your children. Just like the saying goes, "2 birds in 1 stone."
Good job getting out there! It can be so hard with all of life's other demands!
What an incredible mom you are! Taking ALL of your kids on your run. I can barely push my 1 yr old in the jogging stroller. Good for you!!
That's so sweet that your 8-year-old went along -- a great memory for later of "stuff mom and I used to do together." :)
